"there's more to life than cold ambition, much more"

One just keep living not knowing you care or how much you care about certain things. And that is as long you have a good job that takes care of your bills, friends that keeps cheering you, when you have almost everything if not everything. In a moment that changes and makes you change. It could be the death of a loved on, or an experience that brought you face to face with death but you made it out. Then you realize that we are only living on the surface. You look around, the coolness, the quietness, the beauty of all you have, your mansion painstakingly assembled, leather and blond wood and clean lines of metal, the tiles. You think of how you are living, enjoying the single-hood good  life you are living but now fixed with another thought that "there's more to life than cold ambition, much more".

A time comes when you start needing more than you have and can get, much more. Something money cannot buy, something just you cannot provide for yourself, a vacuum you can't just fill by yourself leaving you with the feeling that you are missing so much. May be you didn't see it before but all of a sudden you are realizing it. Realizing what? "you need a companion". It's a switch but you can do it. just think about it. You'll think you are being enough all by yourself, not wanting to alter everything abruptly. You would be shaken but you can't just get past it and go for much more.
